Stephanie Dyann Helsel, Ph.D., is a 2005 graduate of the Gestalt Institute of New England-Pittsburgh Program and has participated in advanced training in Gestalt therapy since that time.

Stephanie is a Pennsylvania licensed professional counselor who is active in research, counseling, and teaching in the Pittsburgh area. She holds a bachelor degree in psychology and women’s studies from the University of Pittsburgh, a masters in community counseling and a doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision from Duquesne University. She first began her work in the field as a clinical interviewer and project manager for psychiatric research programs examining the effects of life stress and self-esteem on a variety of mental health disorders.

While obtaining her masters degree she began substance abuse counseling and continues to work with adults and adolescents in this capacity. In her private practice, she specializes in stress and pain management, mood and anxiety disorders, relational issues, and working with adolescents. Since completing her doctorate in 2008 she has worked as an adjunct instructor and clinical supervisor for several of the areas counseling programs, and joined Waynesburg University’s counseling program faculty in 2009.
